Vi put it down to the fact that the owners of the diner were well liked people who had a real knack for taking something greasy and making it smell and appear edible. Always, Violet had loved the enormous burgers and fries the diner produced, so when the time came for her to find a job, the diner had been the first place she looked. Luckily enough, there had been a vacancy while she was looking, and now, here she was, two years on and one of the diner's most well tipped waitresses.
Violet loved her job. Loved talking to the customer's, loved the atmosphere of the diner and, more than anything, loved the fact she was able to get food with heavy discounts on the weekend when she was a bit peckish after partying or couldn't be bothered cooking for herself, and got to eat for free on her breaks. This is what she had done with herself this particular afternoon between the lunch hour and the evening shift, seating herself in one of the booths to eat the plate full of fries the cook had prepared for her. There was no danger of a sudden stampede of customer's bursting through the door, so Vi assumed she could eat in peace while her co-workers went about their business out the back. But it was as she was chewing her first mouthful of fries that the door bell chimed, and Vi's eyes were automatically drawn to whoever it was that had entered the quiet diner.
The sight of Hunter Grayson, however, had her slouching and ducking her head once Violet had recognized him. It was stupid to try to avoid anyone in a town as small as Spring Valley, but Vi had tried her hardest to avoid any confrontations with this particular young man. Why? Because, of all things, they had a messy past. And although seeing him around town was inevitable and preventing herself from hearing about his lacrosse victories was very much impossible, Vi had attempted to pretend like he didn't exist. But he did, and now here he was, strutting into her diner. Averting her eyes immediately, all Violet could do was wish that he didn't spot her sitting in the corner. that boy is bad and honestly he's a wolf in disguise being from a small town meant that you normally knew who everyone was, it was rare in spring valley that a lot of new people would show up and well in hunter's opinion they would usually be boring anyway. here in spring valley though nearly everyone knew who he was, captain of the lacrosse team and three time state champion, having a sporting record like that in a small town always made you well known. not to mention his dad was a judge and h[is mum sat on the town council. that made them a very well connected family, who often knew all of the gossip and business of others in spring valley. as he drove into town, hunter drummed his fingers on the steering wheel to the beat of the music that was blasting out of the newly fitted sound system in his porsche. lacrosse practice was done for the day and now he needed another way to keep himself busy.
as he turned the corner, hunter's dark chestnut eyes caught sight of the diner sign lit up just at the end of the road. the idea of getting some food seemed like a good one and well darcy's was always the place to go if you wanted something decent to eat. not to mention the owner was a huge fan of hunter which was always a good thing. pulling up outside, hunter checked his reflection in the mirror before getting out of the black porsche, adjusting his sunglasses and leather jacket as he stood up straight. his tousled dark brown hair fell just past his ears and hunter flicked it out the way of his eyes as he made his way inside of the diner. again the place being a small town meant that 90% of the people that worked in the diner, were people that hunter knew and today did not disappoint.
a smirk tugged at the edges of his lips as he happened to look over and instantly spot violet turner sitting at one of the booths over in the corner. "can i get a burger and fries, with a dr pepper" hunter ordered bluntly to the other guy working behind the counter before starting to cross the diner toward violet. the two of them had a bit of a checkered past, having hooked up and sort of been in a relationship before hunter had cheated. obviously that meant things didn't end well, but hunter unlike most people didn't avoid his exes, no instead he amused himself by annoying them. "well if it isn't pretty little Vi" the sarcasm laced hunter's word as he without asking slid himself into the seat across from her. "you know they say a moment on the lips, a life time on the hips" he pointed at her plate of fries before grabbing a few and popping them into his mouth. "missed me?" TEMPLATE BY WE WERE INFINITE ! [style=border:solid 8px #cccccc; background-color: #fff; width: 400px; padding: 10px;] [style=background-color: #98a4d6; border-bottom: solid 5px #7789d2; font-family: arial narrow; letter-spacing: 5px; color: #efefef; text-transform: uppercase; padding: 8px; margin-top: 5px;]it's an ache i still remember Even though she was trying desperately hard to hide herself, deep down Violet knew it was a lost cause. The diner was practically deserted apart from the employees, and although she was tucked away in the corner, the booth didn't offer much privacy. Despite averting her gaze the moment she saw Hunter, Vi's blue eyes had slowly snuck their way back until she made eye contact with the approaching man. Shit...
It took most of her effort to appear pleasant, a small smile gracing her features, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. It widened into more a grimace at Hunter's greeting, but after collecting herself, it returned to her usual, bright grin. "Hunter." she said shortly, acknowledging him with a nod, as she lifted another fry to her lips. Of course, that was when Hunter decided to make some comment about her eating all the fries. In response she stuffed and extra fry in her mouth defiantly, not giving two shits about what he thought. After all, he was just some guy to her nowadays, and Vi didn't really bother herself with what other people thought most days anyway. "I always eat a lot," she shrugged, informing Hunter of what he already knew. Vi had always loved her food, and wasn't ashamed to admit it. She could eat more than a lot of the guys she hung around, and took pride in eating enormous helpings. It was just one of her quirks.
Though she was holding up reasonably well so far, Hunter's last question bugged Vi a little. No, more like a lot. She found that she felt angry, which was, surprisingly, not something Violet felt a lot. She was normally so cheery, but something about Hunter got under her skin. More than anything, it was probably the fact that he had the nerve to act like such a jerk after he hurt her. Of course, Hunter and Vi weren't ever anything serious, but Vi had been under the impression they were exclusive, when Hunter clearly had other ideas. Taking time to swallow her last mouthful of food, Vi gazed at him for a moment, her face serious. "No, not at all." she said honestly, her lips twitching into a smirk. "I'm assuming you haven't missed me, either?" Raising an eyebrow, Vi waited for his answer, resuming the attack on her plate of fries. that boy is bad and honestly he's a wolf in disguise when he had stepped into the diner, hunter really had just been planning on getting some food. but when he had spotted that violet was sat in one of the booths, he couldn't help himself go over and cause a little bit of trouble. anyone that knew hunter well, were more than aware of the fact that he wasn't the type of guy to avoid his exes, usually he liked to wind them up or get them to be jealous of whatever new girl he was with. running a hand through his messy hair as he walked across the diner and made himself comedy in the seat a across from her. already knowing from the look on violet's face that he was the last person she'd wanted to come and sit down.
a slight chuckle slipped through his lips as he noticed violet eat a few more of the fries after his comment. she always had seemed to have some what of a come back for anything that he said, even when they had been sort of dating. "well guess you're going to end up with some mighty hefty hips then aren't you" hunter teased before taking some more of her fries. slouching back against the seat, hunter lets his dark brown eyes slowly drift over violet, really it was hard not to admit that she was a really good looking girl, but he'd been there and done that and in hunter's mind that meant he wasn't going to let himself have feelings for her still or anything like that. "you should put some more salt on them they're too plain" he pointed at the fries. "so you been avoiding me round college or something? haven't see you for awhile there vi". around college hunter was pretty much the big guy on campus and there was usually a crowd of people wanting to hang round him and such.
looking at violet, hunter could tell right away that he had managed to annoy her slightly already and that made him smile just a little. his attention was taken away from her though as the other waitress brought over his food, "cheers hun" he winked at the waitress before letting his attention fall back to violet as she walked away. "ah really, you sure? i mean you haven't even missed me a little bit?" hunter asked, as he sprinkled salt on his fries and some ketchup. "cause i mean i could totally understand why you'd miss me" hunter grinned, before starting to eat some of his food. he let out a light laugh as violet asked him the same question back. "hm, no i cant say that i have" he looked at her "but my bed might have missed you" a bigger grin spread across his lips, before he picked up his drink and sipped on it. "fine by me." she shrugged again, though the hint of a smile played upon the corners of her lips. she tilted her head when hunter mentioned the food needed more salt, picking up a fry and chewing it thoughtfully, finding there to be nothing wrong with them. "really? i think they're perfect." to emphasize her statement, vi picked up another few of the chips and ate them in quick succession. her mouth was full again when hunter asked her yet another question, and vi spent a few moments in silence, chewing the food thoroughly and swallowing it before answering. hunter's timing really was impeccable. a bashful and guilty smile found its way onto her face before she answered. so hunter had noticed her purposeful absence whenever he entered a room. "i've been busy. not all of us have time to fawn over lacrosse players, you know." it was a small dig at the girls who usually surrounded hunter, and vi had to admit she was glad she wasn't one of them. when she was a freshman she had, and look where she was know. screwed over by hunter, and discarded. she was stupid, but what annoyed her most was that hunter never seemed to see the error of his ways.
noticing the other waitress bringing over hunter's food, vi let out a small sigh, thankful for the small distraction. she could see in her co-workers gaze that she was questioning whether everything was alright with violet, but the stubborn blonde just shook her head slightly. now that they were talking, hunter didn't seem so scary. vi was even starting to wonder why she had started avoiding him in the first place. after all, she had done nothing wrong. "positive." she smirked in response to hunter's questioning of the fact violet hadn't missed him at all. she rolled her eyes at his next cocky statement, not even gratifying it with a response. she wasn't surprised to hear that he hadn't missed her either, since vi had heard all about the strings of women throwing their selves at him. but she found his last sentence very amusing, for unknown reasons. "oh? is that right?" she said, another smirk settling across her features. "does that mean you fuck girls in your car these days? that's very classy, hunter." rolling her eyes again, violet went to grab another of her fries, only to find they were all gone. without missing a beat, she reach across and grabbed a few of hunter's, her eyes never leaving his face. that boy is bad and honestly he's a wolf in disguise relaxing himself in the booth hunter could tell that this was going to be an interesting conversation between himself and violet. after all the pair of them hadn't talked for awhile, well pretty much since things had ended badly between the pair of them. which didn't really surprise hunter much, but he was definitely going to take this opportunity to try and annoy violet a little bit. "alright then hefycakes" with a slight shrug of his shoulders, hunter offered her a slight smile before laughing. when she mentioned that there was nothing wrong with the fries, hunter shook his head a little. "if you're going to eat that many fries you could at least make them taste good" hunter would have considered putting some salt on the fries himself but was pretty sure violet would have tried to have him banned from the diner if he did. "if i remember correctly once upon a time that was all that you had time to do, only it was just fawning over the lacrosse captain" a smug grin tugged at the edges of his lips as he looked across at violet. she was right though, round college it was hard to walk anywhere and not have at least one girl try and stop to talk to him, really they just made it easy for him pick them up and get rid of them once he was bored.
once his food was set down on the table, hunter wasted no time in tucking in. he had only realised how hungry he was after stealing some of violet's fries. picking up his drink, hunter sipped on it, paying attention to violet who was confirming that she had definitely not missed him. honestly hunter wasn't too surprised, he supposed that having cheated on her wasn't exactly going to make someone miss him. though in his defence he really hadn't thought that at the time they were serious or whatever, he'd never said that they were exclusive so was it really his fault that violet had somehow thought they were. "see i think that really deep down you totally miss me. i mean i wouldn't blame you i am pretty amazing after all" hunter smirked slightly, before eating more of his food. her response made hunter laugh, he hadn't expected such a feisty come back. "oh babe, i fuck them in more places than just the bedroom and the car" he winked "got to keep it interesting after all. i mean it was always interesting when we did it". he teased lightly. hunter arched a brow when she took some of his fries but didn't try and stop her. "so what you been doing other than avoiding me then?" TEMPLATE BY WE WERE INFINITE ! OF CAUTIO 2.0

"seriously, they tasted fine." vi insisted about her now vanished fries. she licked her fingers absentmindedly, trying to get rid of the grease that clung to her fingertips. "i did not fawn over you." vi argued unable to keep from laughing. "at least i wasn't as bad as some of then..." vi was trying hard to remember, but she was sure she hadn't been in hunter's face as much as some of the girls who made it their mission to get his attention. unable to remember exactly, vi gave up. "i wasn't, was i?" she asked hunter, having much more faith in his memory than her own.
violet let out a small scoff at hunter's insisting violet must have missed him. she had for all of one day after things ended between them, and realized it was probably for the best. but that didn't mean she hadn't been angry, because she had. and she felt like an idiot for thinking things could have been different. but she was younger then, more naive, and now, she didn't care either way. "and here i was, thinking that i was the amazing one." violet mused lightly, though she wasn't being completely serious. sure, she wasn't nearly as popular as hunter, but she had her fair share of friends too, which had to count for something. grabbing more of his fries, vi's smirk widened into a grin. "yes, but i think i drew the line at the car." violet laughed lightly, shaking her head. "glad to hear that, though. at least those poor girls get something out of it, even if it is just interesting scenery." she grinned again, before putting more food in her mouth. despite eating practically the entire plate of fries beforehand, violet was still hungry. she was debating whether to get more food or not, when hunter questioned her about what she'd been doing with herself. "working, college, partying... you know, the usual." she answered with a shrug, not even bothering to deny the fact she'd been avoiding him. "oh, i moved out, too." she added, unsure if that was a new development since she had last talked to hunter. "nothing super interesting or anything. what about you?"
